Global HIV & AIDS statistics – Fact sheet (includes adolescent data)

This factsheet provides an overview of the global HIV situation. In 2024 an estimated 40.8 million people were living with HIV, with 1.3 million new infections and 630,000 AIDS-related deaths. While 31.6 million people received antiretroviral therapy, the 2025 treatment target has not yet been met. The factsheet highlights regional disparities in treatment access, the disproportionate impact on women, girls, and marginalised groups, and the continuing need for sustained investment to reach global HIV goals.
